A walk organised by Hilary Thomas and led by Bob Ayers. We all met up at Waterloo Station and then caught a bus to Holborn. We criss-crossed the hidden River Fleet, from which Fleet Street gets its name, taking in some small alleyways, Ely Place, part of Cambridgeshire, several interesting pubs, Farringdon Station and Cross-Rail (Elizabeth Line). We then continued past several interesting buildings, including churches, monasteries and the Order of St John, before having lunch in a pub close to Smithfield. After lunch we went through Smithfield Market to Barts (St Bartholomew's hospital complex and associated churches) and on to Charterhouse and Guildhall before reaching the fascinating Barbican complex. We finished by getting a bus back to Waterloo from near Bank Station.
There are many more pictures of the walk on the London Walk Page on the Sandell's web site.
