Photographs provided by Colin Rumary and Harry Wickens of the 50+ trip to Kent. The coach first went to Ightham Mote with its array of styles from a Jacobean staircase to Gothic windows and 18th Century hand-painted Chinese wallpaper. After lunch the coach continued to Chapel Down Vineyard for a guided tour learning about the process of creating Traditional Method sparking wine, finishing with a tasting. The second day saw a visit to the Gravesend Cold War Bunker which was built in 1954 to be used for the coordination of emergency services in the event of nuclear attack. Lunch was in Rochester followed by the Caves at Margate, which were originally dug out as a chalk mine in the 18th century. The final day started at St Leonard’s Church and Crypt in Hythe which contains the largest collection of ancient human skulls in Britain. The trip continued to Quex Park, home of Woodland View Alpacas, with a trek across the beautiful Quex Park with the alpacas on leads.
