Woking 50+ Club
The club, which is run jointly by Woking Leisure Centre and a Committee of members, aims to offer opportunities for fitness and fun and is open to anyone over the age of 50.
There are no joining fees - simply turn up each week at Woking or Eastwood Leisure Centres to enjoy a wide variety of activities - see the 'Membership' page for details. The centre supplies all equipment required. All you need are clothes that will allow you to move freely and non-marking plimsolls.
There are four sessions per week and members can attend as many or as few sessions as they like. The sessions on Thursdays start with a meeting to inform members of forthcoming events followed by a low to moderate workout. In any of the sessions members can choose to join in a range of activities such as racquet sports, bowls or water workout. In addition, you can choose to go to the gym or for a swim.
The club has a Committee which is made up of members of the club. They are on hand to give you advice if you have any problems or queries.
On your first visit to the Leisure Centre ask at Reception and they will arrange for one of the Committee to show you round and explain to you how the club works. The club aims to create a fun atmosphere where new members feel welcome and make friends.
The Committee organises a full calendar of social events, such as a monthly guided walk, trips to places of interest, quiz evenings, a summer garden party, and concerts. Group holidays in the UK or abroad dependent on members wishes are also arranged from time to time. For further details see the 'Events' section. Note that all these events are for bona-fide members of the Woking 50+ Club and their immediate families only.
Photographs are taken on most walks, some other trips and at some events. You can see these in the 'Photo Album' section.
